I read somewheres that you can have cramping during your pregnancy. Its kind of scary because I have had 2 miscarriages before and I was a little worried that I would miscarry again. The only thing is that the cramps seem to be worse around when my period should come. Is that normal?? And how long should it last for??

I had cramping up through my 11th week. It felt like dull, mild menstrual cramps. They usually passed within an hour if I sat down and put my feet up to relax. If I did not, they would continue sometimes until I did sit down and put my feet up, which could have been an hour or two.

Cramps are very normal, as long as they are not severe and accompanied by bleeding. If you have had 2 miscarriages before, the doctor can classify you as high risk. I was normal risk, and I still was able to go in to the doctor to see the baby via ultrasound at 8 weeks, so likely she can take you in to give you an exam now.

Since you have a history of miscarriages and cramping is not a normal experience(although it is a possible one) during pregnancy, you should call your ob right away and go in for a checkup. They may suggest an ultrasound just to see how everything looks and where the pregnancy is in the womb (position) to rule out any problems.

Good luck

Have you been to a doctor?

cramping is NOT normal while you are pregnant.

At nine weeks, you aren't far enough along to know whether or not you will miscarry.

Go to the doctor, like you know you should and get an ultrasound right away.

Many women don't carry a baby successfully past 12 weeks. I'm sorry to say you're probably in the process of another miscarriage but you won't know what's going on until you get examined by a doctor.

This answer forum is certainly not a way to ease your mind about this issue.

I had cramping all through my first trimester. I was assured by the doctor that it was totally normal. I have had a completely perfect pregnancy without a single problem and am 31 weeks now.

For me it felt like period cramps - they would come and go throughout the day.

I'm 7 weeks and have had cramping the whole time as well. My doc says that mild cramping is normal, but if it is unbearable to let the doc know or go to the ER.

However, every woman and pregnancy is different. So make sure to talk with your doc about this to make sure everything is ok.

If you have a history of miscarriage and you are cramping, you really need to be calling your OB/GYN. Everyone here can give you their opinion on whether or not you have a problem, but a professional opinion is what is needed.

Good luck and I hope everything is fine.

Hon, don't take chances - see a medical professional as soon as you can. If you've had miscarriages before you don't want to waste any time getting medical supervision. Cramping is not a good sign.

I had cramping the entire pregnancy, the Dr said it was from the round ligament stretching and making room.
