Pollution in our Oceans is a huge problem.
Much of it comes from these sources:
Factories that allow waste and toxic chemicals to flow to the
oceans.
Acid rain falling on the oceans causing problems with the reefs.
this comes from air pollution.
Allowing oil rigs and ships to polute the oceans (breakdowns,
wrecks).
Over-fishing causes an out of balance ecosystem therefore
polution and disease to fish and reef life.
Debris from weather problems like huricanes, tsunamis pulling
things from the land to the ocean creating imbalance (like
fertilizers, oils, chemicals, toxic waste etc).
Boats and Vessels that leak oil, gas, and other polutants.
Global Warming causing ice caps to melt and disruption of the
oceans ecosystems.

We need to take Ocean Pollution seriously and form commitees with the UN to help change the course. Just our country is not going to solve this problem, it needs to be a global effort. We need a study group of top scientists to rangle out the efforts we can do to correct the pollution.
Good Topic.

That is an excellent question and one that deserves an honest answer. Unfortunately, I'm not the one to give it to you, although I sure wish I was.

Since much of the pollution has been caused by oil spills, there isn't too much we can do, except to clean it up as good as is humanly possible.

Ya gotta figure though, everything gets dumped in there from sweage to oil. What could this world possibly expect?

But...at any rate, here is a web site of NASA that maybe has some answers. Best of luck in your search.
