Has anyone actually read on a pregnancy test box / pamphlet the amount of hCG required to show a positive? Typically this is between 20-100. I've read that the test your Dr. uses only needs a minimum of 20 mlU/ml hCG, Answer and Walgreens brand require minimum of 100 mIU/ml hCG, ClearBlue Easy requires a minimum of 50 mIU/ml hCG , and E.P.T. requires a minimum of 40 mIU/ml hCG.

So has anyone ever seen these numbers on any of the boxes? (the lower amount needed the sooner a test can be used) I'm happy for those of you who have used these products with success but my question is has anyone ever read these numbers on a box?

Yes, I obsessively read every box in the store when I was trying to find out whether I was pregnant. I ended up buying at the dollar store, which carried tests that had a sensitivity of 25 mIU/ml hCG. I tested positive shortly after I was a week late.

I have never seen these numbers... nor have i really looked.... I took a clear blue easy digital test and got a positive within a minute.

when I went to the doctor, they used a regular old hpt (i couldnt tell you the brand or anything) but it took a lot longer to show up and it was a very faint line.

so with that said, I don't think that the level of HcG needed for the test the doctor uses is much different than the kind you buy at the drug store.

If you get a "false" negative, try again in a few days with the early morning urine because that is when your levels of HcG are the highest

I've never looked for the numbers on a box but I have heard about them....the smaller amount needed I would think would be better if you think you're pregnant but haven't had a missed period yet. I thought I was pregnant, I knew something was different with me...and I took 2 tests each month for THREE months. They all came back negative. I took another July 1 the day after I missed my period and it came back positive. Went to the doc shortly after and I was already almost on my 2nd trimester!!! So sometimes it takes a while for those hormones to even read out right on there and be detected by an at home test. My baby just turned 4 years old last week... :)

I don't know that I've read them on the box. Maybe in the papers inside the box?

Try the website www.peeonastick.com - this lady has put together all kinds of info on which tests are best. It seems like I saw a chart there with every test imaginable and the amount of hCG required for each test.

i was so excited to even be taking a test i dont think i paid that much attention to the box. although i have read in several places about the E.P.T being best because it shows sooner. Sorry i couldn't be of more help. I got a positive result so i didnt care about the hCG requirement lol.

Good question, and my answer is no.

I have read Equate (Walmart) brand is 25 mIU sensitive and purposely looked all through the packaging- NOTHING on how sensitive it is.

I am surprised they don't put this data in the packaging. Maybe they feel it's too "technical"? Most test literature I have seen is pretty dumbed down, if you know what I mean. Not trying to be snobby.

The site below states the sensitivity stated is the official manufacturers statement, but I don't know how this info was obtained.

yes ive seen the numbers lol. When ever someone asks on here how soon they can take a test i tell them to go to www.peeonastick.com theres a chart there that tells you what tests detect with the lowest amount of hormones. and it bugs me when people think that all tests detect the same because they dont. it doesnt matter if you use first morning urine, because all tests tell you it is best to take it with the first morning urine some tests will still detect sooner then others.

The only time i've seen the numbers on the box were with the cheapie ones I got at the dollar store for a buck. They said 25mlU and are called Ucheck. They seemed to work just fine.

Why don't you just visit the websites of the name brand tests given or you may have to visit your local drug store and read the boxes in the isles yourself if you're that anxious. .
