I had an idea the other week of setting a website up something like a cross between this site and myspace, where people can have a page where they present there own manifesto, it could be interlinked so like minded sorts are put in contact with each other to brainstorm the big issues of the day, then each topic could be polled to establish consensus
I fully understand that this method could be seen to favour the majority view and further marginalise minorities but with the technology that is available everyones needs or wishes could be identified and an appropriate amount of resource allocated to cater for the needs of the individual as well as the masses
true democracy?

Well, this is an idea I had for long time, it will require HUGE changes but I've done some deep research and I really think it could work. The idea is to replace currency like dollars and coins with a credit system like a credit card. But the value is not determined how much you work it is based off of how much to service society. So say if you’re a Police Officer we all know that’s a huge service, or soldiers, firefighters, etc. Or if you go out and help your community like pick up trash, help starving children or etc you would earn point for that. It will also give good reason for manufactures to make more dependable products because the more there product services humanity the more point value they get. There would be no reason for insurance companies, medical providers and Gas Company wouldn’t pull dirty scams, instead service humanity the best they can; example the more people they provide medical services for the better point value they’ll get. Food companies would make healthier products to service humanity; in return we would have a healthier society. Colleges, the more students they have the more point they get. Public schools, the better they educate children the more points they get; teachers would teach our children better because they would get more points depending on the class grade average; and teachers would get paid more because of the huge service to society. Kids as early as 10 would earn points if they have good grades allowing them to buy what they want. A stay home mom can earn points because she is taking the time to raise her children more. If you give birth to a child properly you’d earn points or normally. If people obeyed the law like traffic laws a Police officer would give them points; so Police Officers can give you points and also take away points. And this would all be regulated by the government not necessarily controlled; and not just Federal all the way down the ladder. How cool would it be that you get a letter from your government saying good job on helping to clean the streets you have been given 10,000 additional points. All your political people would try to better humanity more to get more points. If you live in your country all your life and work, obey the laws, and basically be a good citizen the government would award you by giving you a large amount of points to retire on. Or if you do a huge service for humanity you‘d receive special points that never loose value nor decrease when purchasing things. I think the huge change would be if there is no money how can someone rob a bank, or sell drugs, or steal things; If your card is stolen just call your police station or the Govt agency that would control it all and tell them and they’d cancel the card.
You’d loose points for breaking the law, hurting someone, even having a bad attitude you loose points. Or you loose all your privileges to earn points if you have a child during school; basically being irresponsible and having a child prematurely you’d loose points, or basically not using proper sex practice. That may slow down the overwhelming abortions and even the population. And if you have child and give it up for adoption or abortion you’d loose points.
I could go on for ever about the many benefits this system would have. Basically make a system to give people the determination to do good for other and society.

Society is important for the well-being of the World.
Respect and care for other people and the environment is essential. This includes the relationships that we have at home, with friends, with those at work and should include encounters that we have with strangers. We also need to respect and care for people we have not (yet) met or who we do not know.
An openess of mind and a willingness to listen and learn will build this respect.

Great idea.
If every single person just plays a small part like saving elec and water, recycling and using eco friendy products we could change thing dramatically.
Unfortunately as you will see from the answers you get people either just dont give a rats **** or they are going to leave it to some non existent entity to sort out. (brilliant, like God is suddenly gonna turn round and say OK youve all been pretty good the last few years I tell you what I'll sort out all your problems)

no offence but i somehow doubt anyone of any importance or with any influence is going have the spare time to be sitting on yahoo answers reading through thousands of questions in case the great general public has an opinion that might be of interest. they don't pay any attention to people in a naked picket line outside number 10 so they're hardly going to be heeding the opinions on here

my thoughts to your very interesting question is
in life we must be accepting of people regardless of race, cread, colour, religion, and personal prefrence..keep an open mind, and learn what you do not understand
i am not saying we have to like everyone in our path, but be it due to a personality difference there ar some people out there i dont want to be associated with but not because of any other reason, then they are ie: jerk or abnoxious or whatever, and not based on other things
why look at the rose, when when you can see flowers

Get rid of Blair for a start,we need a party of normal everyday people in charge not government fatcats. If their wages were to be reduced maybe that would put them off it and give someone else a chance.
