I have been drinking 5-6 bottles of water everyday since Tuesday and I woke up this morning looking bigger and sort of puffier on my face. Is this because of the water or is this rapid weight gain? And is this temporary?

The answer is not bloating or stomach bloating, but water retention. What you've done is thrown your body into a fluid imbalance, which has caused water retention or medically known as edema. "Edema may be very slight, causing rings on fingers to feel tight or the face to feel puffy" Yes it is temporary as long as your body can find an equilibrium with the amount of your water intake. Give your body time to adjust, and also make sure to discuss any major dietary changes to your doctor, that includes drinking "so many bottles of water a day" and when you say 5-6 bottles a day do you mean 500 ml bottles? because that works out to 3litres a day. Now i'm a big guy about 240lbs my doctor recommends i drink between 2-2.5 litres a water a day. But when I work out heavily he tells me to increase it to 3. There is no easy calculation for how much water you should consume, it usually is calculated by body weight, and how active your lifestyle is. Remember that food throughout a day will constitute about 20% of water/fluid intake. The 8 x 8 rule for water is 8 glasses of 8 ounces of water, which works out to roughly 1.9 litres. So I would say drink a minimum of 2 litres a water a day, also pay attention to your urine, the only time your urine should be discoloured in the morning or after a fast, other times it should be clear, that would mean you are consuming enough water for your body. Cheers.
