I am tired of our country being run by the division of people on this single issue alone . No matter what politicians may do as long as they support one side or the other people seem to vote this issue .
Pro life and permitting animal research and deficit spending or pro choice and higher property taxes .
Politicians have selected which side of the fence to be on based on one issue .
I want politicians to be refrained from a stand on abortion simply so we can elect the person who can work at fixing the problems that keep people from wanting to have kids in the first place . If it was not for sex no abortions would be needed . So blaming sex for everything and what leads to it in many cases booze and drugs has divided this nation completely apart . We have the highest criminal incarceration rates in the world and spend 50,000,000,000 every year to keep them locked up . Half of them because of the war on drugs which leads to sex which causes abortion .
I get it folks no sex right .

So we end sex and the pro life people take over ending sex outside marriage .
This is not what america should be about and we need to do something . Banning politicians from getting votes from people over abortion has ruined America . One Issue has destroyed us . While we argue over this our jobs are going to Mexico ,Mexico is coming here and our taxes have gone from 18% to 39% in the last 30 years .
What will it take to do something to affect real change . I am willing to split it with you odd and even years seeing as how we will never come to any agreement .
Legal one year illegal the next . Maybe then we can move on to important issues .

Abortion should be a states issue, as well as gay marriage etc etc. We don't want big government getting involved!

No. It's an issue in the political sphere. Both sides have strong opinions, so it's definitely NOT unimportant!
Why let politicians off the hook?
I may be a cynic, but it seems to me like the people who say an issue is "unimportant" are usually those who end up on the losing side if it's voted on.

yes as long as abortion remains legal i agree somewhat with what your saying but many of the hard core drugs lead to impotence so you can't blame all the unwanted pregnancies on drugs but you can blame it on lack of education and lack of birth control lots or lower income people get Medicaid Medicaid doesn't cover birth control but it will cover pregnancy but not tubals weird i know but the system is truly at it's worst right now if most of the people who need birth control the most have the least access to it if they could include either tubals or birth control than the amount of abortions and politicians fighting this battle would reduce , i will never ever give up sex never never and all those who say no sex or sex for procreation have just never had good sex because if they had their stance on this issue would be different and birth control would be free so you have a good idea but i doubt most people will agree

So, what would be our basis for voting for them if they are not permitted to take stands on issues? Of course we will vote for people that take a certain stand on issues.
Also, if we ban Politicians from voicing their choice, what's next? I know it's cliched, but I have to go with a little thing called "freedom of speech".

I'm also tired of the divisiveness that has been caused by the abortion issue. That being said, though, I wouldn't support such a law, because it would violate the First Amendment.

wow you are some wound up about this question. Not sure what set you off, but I would support it. Since they only lie about everything anyway, lets just not let them answer.
What i am not sure of is how people can be so stupid as to vote for these idiots. You know atleast I can be proud and say I did not vote for Bush and it had nothing to do with abortion. I just knew he was going to screw things up. Now everone is running about trying to cover up that he has screwed things up.

Abortion is a personal issue to be determined by the individual.
Politicians are not needed for that.

How about a law that prevents politicians from proclaiming a stand on anything?
We can elect them based on their good looks and talent, like "American Idol".
