Curious about Valentine's Day.?

I am just curious that on valentine's day, do the guys always have to be the one to give valentine gifts? Or, is valentine a two way street? Should the wife or girlfriend give the husband or the boyfriend gifts too? Or, should they just wait for the guys to give them gifts? I am totally confused about valentine's day..

Guys usually give a card and a gift.

It's a two way street but some people still think we should be doing it the way it was done 50 years ago.
