the Zelda series is the best chain of video games ever, but if I had to point to one game that impressed me more than another I'd say either Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for Playstation 1 or the Guitar Hero games

It would depend on what you consider to be "best". I would probably pick Tetris or Ms. Pacman because I can play them anytime no matter what I am doing and they are probably two of the most popular games ever made. If you look at current games Halo has to be the best because of how big of following it has. If I had to pick one though it would be Tetris.

i have always loved resident evil 2, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider 3, and God of War was awesome, i can't wait til the next one comes out
