There is never a proper time to give your son cow's milk. It is the wrong frood for him and he will be much better off without it.
Humans are the only animal that drinks milk past infancy, and then it's not even from the correct species! Too many people are still trying to defend milk's supposed health benefits. Unfortunately, they are either using old information or information obtained from research funded by the dairy association. How many people would enjoy a glass of dog's milk or rat's milk? What makes cows special?
There are only two reasons which I've found to support humans drinking cow's milk. We have grown up hearing that it's good for us and we've grown accustomed to the taste and texture. There is absolutely no nutrition that can not be obtained elsewhere, minus the negatives. Calcium seems to be the major claim for milk. It can be found elsewhere in green vegetables, almonds, and many other sources. Where do you think the cows obtain the calcium to put into the milk? Where do other larger animals (elephants, horses, deer, whales, etc) get calcium? Why we continue to drink cow's milk laced with growth hormones, antibiotics, and who knows what else is beyond me.
Since I've given up drinking milk about 5 years ago my health has greatly improved. I suffer fewer allergy problems, asthma and breathing problems are greatly reduced, I'm sleeping better, and I have more energy.
In the '50s smoking was considered harmless but now we realize its dangers. One person at a time and eventually the truth will become widely known that cow's milk is only for baby cows. Milk is indeed the perfect food, but only for infants of the proper species.
Do some research online and decide for yourself.

I would just follow what the pediatrician says because sometimes children may not tolerate cow milk. You have to let their immune system get build up then introduce new foods. Sometimes children are lactose intolerant for that reason, so keep with formula until he turns a year old. Plus, babies need iron and milk does not have it.
here is some info on the amount and timing of formula and cow's milk.

I know people who have started at 9-10 months and their children were fine. I think 7 months is a bit premature. The only reason to wait is in case your child has an allergy to cow's milk. I also know quite a few children that have to drink goat's milk and soy milk due to these allergies. Consult your physician.

i would just ask your child dr to be safe

I have been told that a baby's stomach can't handle the cows milk until a year old. I waited a couple months after a year because I didn't want to take any chances. The cows milk has bacteria in it and the babies stomach can't handle it.

The longer you wait the better. It is recommended that a baby be at least 1 year before having milk products. Giving certain foods earlier can cause food allergy later.

First introduce Yo Baby yogurt. Then around 11 months, start to intorduce 1 ounce (then increase) of milk to his formula. By one year he should be ready to go. Their digestive systems cant handle cows milk before a certain age. So I wouldnt give it to him earlier than 11 months.

Yes. If you ask your doc he prob will disagree but I started my boys at about 10 monthes and they did ok. I might wait until at least 9 monthes because some of the important things they need at 7 monthes old is still in the formula and ot in milk.

My older daughter doesn't drink milk at all, and my younger one only drinks it occasionally. Cows milk is meant for baby cows, not baby humans. There are plenty of other ways to introduce calcium, cheese and yogurt are two. My girls usually drink healthy juices or water when they are thirsty. There is really no reason to drink cows milk.

Start mixing half milk & half formula @ 11mos. Then, 75% milk &(25% formula) 2 weeks later. She should be all set for whole milk by 12 mos. I seriouslly wouldn't start this any sooner. They could get very sick because their digestive system isn't mature enough yet.
