yes!! math!!!

2) remember the BODMAS rule which means do Brackets first, to the Outside, then Division, Multiplication, Addition and last Subtraction.
so...
2+3x4+6/2 = 2+(3x4)+(6/2)
= 2+12+3
= 17
ans: D

3) 3(4x+2) = 6(2x+1)
expanding the eqn: 12x+6 = 12x + 6
simplifying: 12x-12x = 6-6
0x = 0
x = no solutions (because 0 divide by anything else has no solutions. something like if you have nothing to start with, you cant even divide)

ans: C

4) -3(4x-7) = -3(4x) - 3(-7)
= -12x+21

ans: B

5) let x be the unknown number.
"Multiplying a number by 8 and then subtracting 10 from it" means...
8x-10

and "tripling the number and adding 5 to it" means....
3x+5

so since the qn says they are equal,
8x-10 = 3x+5
solve for x: 8x-3x = 5+10
5x = 15
x = 15/5 = 3

ans: D

Amazingly these questions are in the same format as someone else I refuse to help because she's just lazy and doesn't do the work herself. I wonder, could you be using the same book...oh wait, you just thought we wouldn't notice.

As a math teacher, I offer to help anyone that is "stuck" on something, but I refuse to help people that are just too lazy to do their own work.

Feel free to email me if you need help understanding how to distribute, but NOT if you want help with your homework, it was assigned for a reason.

I'm not doing your work for you. You should try to find out for yourself. Like someone else said, I'm not giving you the answers but if you were stuck then I'd help you.

Suggestion: Search - Order of Operations. Then solve these problems yourself!
