Do they do ultrasounds at 8 weeks now?

They did on me the very around that time. This was in 2002. I assume things would have stayed the same since then. With me the doctor was looking for a heartbeat and making sure that there was only one baby in there.

I had an ultrasound done at 9 weeks but only because I have high risk pregnancies.

They can do an internal ultrasound (inserted vaginally) as early as 6 weeks.

they did an ultrasound on my daughter at her first visit, so that was probably about 8 weeks.

My doctor did them early in my pregnancy (between 8 and 10 weeks) to get accurate due dates but I think my insurance paid for two. Most insurance companies only pay for one unless you are high risk.

Not normally but they can. They have a probe that goes up inside of you and it works as an ultrasound.

My doctor told me that it's not something they have to do before the 5th or 6th month unless they suspect something is not right, so I actually ordered one on my 19th week visit, cause I wanted to find out the sex of the baby. Make sure your insurance covers it before you order one~

yes some doctors do, other make you wait till around 12 weeks

If necessary. I had one for light spotting. But there's little need for it unless there is a problem. You can't see much at that point.
