I remember when "gay" meant happy and was used in children's books.
If homosexuals are insulted, then they should get used to the continuing evolution of our language. What meant happy, today means homosexual and tomorrow may mean something totally different....

Yes we are... well at least I am considering the etymology of the word
Gay was originally a label for agonstics who were "care free" about their sin. They didn't care that they were sinning and ignored those who said they were sinning. It later became more homosexually exclusive.
Now the term gay is being used to describe something with poor favor, dislike stupidity. For example "that car is gay" meaning that it is of poor quality, lame or it sucks Though many say that it has nothing to do with homosexuals and that they aren't intending to offend homosexuals it does. This word is a descriptor of homosexuality that is embraced because most of us truly don't care what the bible says and don't care that we are "sinners." We do as a matter a fact take it as offensive when the word is used in this new and offensive way and considering the origins. The fact that a word doesn't change in this way without reasoning such as the animosity towards gays in this case it is valid to complain about the new usage.

This phase developed while I was outside of the United States for a couple of years, and it seems mostly confined to North America. I just haven't heard it used that way in other countries where I live regularly.
And yes, it was very off-putting to come back to the United States and be greeted with people saying "that's gay" to describe things they thought were stupid. It seemed to be a sign of the times, and coincided with the whole gay marriage debate. I was disappointed.

Upset:? No
However, upon hearing someone say that, I will no longer associate with them. To me it's a complete sign of ignorance, after all, you wouldn't say "Oh my God, that is so Black" or "Wow that is so Jewish", I mean really.
I was a party once and after being introduced to some people, we got to chatting and then someone in the group said it. After that I simply ignored them and excused myself. Later I was asked why I disliked said person, since they felt they didn't know what they did. When I told them, the look on their face was one of horror. They honestly didn't think it was a big deal, and to me it's not, so long as people understand that; just as you are free to use the euphemism, I am free to judge you as a boor and thus dismiss as someone I don't want to associate with.
As for kingstubborn and professor, well as cute and intelligent as they are trying to be, they know damn well what this is about, but then again, no surprise, after all, they're the same type that probably believe blacks should be slaves and women should be put in their place.

Naahh, it takes a heck of a lot more than that to get me upset.
I think that most people that use gay in that way don't really mean anything by it. Just like a lot of people say "oh that's retarded". It's just a word. If I went around getting offended by every little thing people say, I'd be peed-off all of the time. Life's too short for that!

I'm not gay but I'd think so. If we use the term "thats gay" we're usually saying something is bad. Then if gay is bad then gay people must be bad. We don't mean for it to be insulting but it probably is.

I'm not sure that happy people do get upset, and I'm not sure why you're asking whether homosexual people care one way or the other whether happy people become upset.
OTOH, perhaps you are further corrupting the English language by using 'gay' to mean something it's not The correct word you might be searching for is, in fact, 'homosexual'.
Let's all agree to use [the] proper words when we speak and when we write.

I am not insulted. But I cannot help but think the person who uses "Gay" as an adjetive has a very limited vocabulary. I find it hard to identify a 'thing' as Gay, for the word Gay refers to a person's sexuality. But then, again, Gays use the word in the same way.

I personally do not get upset but I live in a world were labels mean everything and well I just do not care to use them.
I can see how it would upset people just like slag words for races. It is the same thing.

DUUH! OF COURSE! I am straight and I am offended when people say that. I was in class when someone said their laptop was being gay. Last I checked, a computer is not homosexual. It is offensive and we are insulted.
