You better be careful. You might pi** off some liberals (ie Socialist) who think everyone should be paid the same regardless of how much he does or does not work.
But I do agree with you. In addition, if someone is willing to spend more time educating themselves to pull ahead, then they should be able to get paid more than someone who dropped out of high school.

Equal pay for equal work means just what it says. There is no intent to imply anything else.
The right of employees to be free from discrimination in their compensation is protected under several federal laws, including the following enforced by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC): the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
The Equal Pay Act requires that men and women be given equal pay for equal work in the same establishment. The jobs need not be identical, but they must be substantially equal. It is job content, not job titles, that determines whether jobs are substantially equal. Specifically, the EPA provides:
Employers may not pay unequal wages to men and women who perform jobs that require substantially equal skill, effort and responsibility, and that are performed under similar working conditions within the same establishment.

Not really, at all. There is a parable I must bring into this: A man hired some men to work in his field........he told them how much he would pay them to work until midnight. The men were delighted with the pay schedule and did work until midnight. Another man showed up at 11:00 p.m. and asked for a job. The man hired HIM to work until midnight as well. When pay time came, all the men were paid the same. The ones who had worked all day were furious that the man who only worked one hour got the same pay as they did. The man looked at them and asked them: Were you not delighted with the pay I offered you? Did you not do the work I offered you, and get paid that amount?
As for the man who came at the eleventh hour, why should that concern you? I paid you what I promised you I'd pay you. What I pay another man should be no concern of yours.
I always liked that parable. It pretty much assures me that if I agree to do a job for a particular amount, I will do it as well as I am able. What the other person gets is entirely between the payee and the payer. (of course, it doesn't SOUND fair, but, when we agree to work for an amount, that IS our amount to receive...........watch what you agree to!)
