The GOP defenders on this site and elsewhere are in serious denial when they refuse to admit that their president and his family and friends are all chin deep in war profits. This is a conflict of interest at it's worst. Why are you still defending this man?

Because they are brainwashed by this man. Heck, if Bush hadn't ever made it in politics, he probably could have been a cult leader. He is no different than the Reverend Moon or the Reverend Jim Jones. It's all about brainwashing people who lack the capacity for common sense and independent thought for their own financial gain. He is a cheerleader of sorts with his tired support phrases like "We must stay the course" and "We can't let the terrorists win". Bush's mindless followers get so caught up in the rhetoric that they don't see the forest for the trees; over 2000 men and women killed to keep filling the coffers of BUSHCO.

Political convictions are being this denial. Most GOP supporters will not even benefit from war contracts; they are just ordinary citizens like you and me. They believe the whole terror theory and the menace that supposedly posed Saddam Hussein towards the Western World. He was way too occupied staying in power and oppressing his citizens to pose a serious menace.
The other sound reason for Irak intervention is to secure oil ressources, not only for the US. The Brits are more dependant on Middle-Eastern oil than the USA. By the way, Canada is now the main oil provider for US, followed by Venezuela and Mexico.

It's a dangerous world. There are many groups that would like to see the USA toppled and humbled. Yet, there is profit taking in every war. Sure the oil in Iraq helps to pay for us being there. Yet the true reason is national security. After WWII, the USA became a player on the world stage. There's no turning back now and becoming a isolationist country like pre WWII. We got involved in WWII to break free of the isolationist that controlled this country. Too late to go back to our old ways. So we have to pay attention to other countries around the world, especially the ones that threaten us. Wecan't have it both ways, to eat our cake and have it to.
