Call up Microsoft....they will tell U.
Or just dowload all XP updates....it will have a tool which verify if it is illegal or not.

Their is no way to find out if the other person's Windows XP is illegal just by chatting. Now if the person gave you permission to access his computer you could run a validation program to find out. You would have to get on illegally like break in their house and then perform a validation. But then good or not, it does not really matter that much. As long as you are not affected.

I'm sorry, but I know of no way to test someone Else's operating system to see if it is legal.

Even if it was illegal, you could do nothing about it but report it to Microsoft. I doubt they would do anything for one illegal copy. They would have no recourse but to sue, and for one copy that is a terrible expense, and not worth the effort.

It is unfair when people steal things, but unfortunately it happens all the time with computer software and other things.

There is a hope, some police departments have a computer section that investigates these things. If you could prove it was illegal, you could turn it in to them.

Bottom line, if they stole it, they are a thief. Proving it is almost impossible. Sorry!

Get a job with Microsoft authenity division and secretly invade others accounts. No there is no way to know. If they ever re-install their program they will have to register again. As a user you wont know this information on someone else. Or pose as a janitor with a stolen id badge. If you get caught hand them your suspisious persons ID. Dont worry I heard you get 3 square meals a day to be a Microsoft trespasser and get your own slave computer to work at.

The Windows Genuine Advantage Validation. go to windows market, and look for "windows defender" or "media player11"they will validate your copy of windows to see if its genuine.you wont be able to download these programs if your copy of windows doesn't pass which would mean that you have a Boot Leg Copy of windows
