At this point, no. First of all while there are all the reasons in the world to do something pre-emptive in Iran, there are still other cards to play, like diplomacy. Second, there are several other countries involved in negotiating with Iran; going it alone when we've taken pains to form some type of coalition would be dumb (not that we're immune to doing dumb things, of course). Third, going to war with Iran would not be like beating up Saddam's pathetic little army. Iran is much larger than Iraq, for one thing, and probably a little less loony in the defense department than Saddam "Don't Ever Disagree With Me, General" Hussein. Fourth, attacking the Islamist state of Iran is much more likely to be seen in the Moslem world as an attack on Islam itself (never mind that most countries with Moslem populations don't like Iran or their government, including most Iranians themselves; and most of them are more than happy to draw a distinction between their largely Arab selfs and the Persian --i.e., non-Arab -- Iranians).
And if that's not enough, there's not enough willpower in this country to fight another war. The only way Iran could be attacked is if they attacked us first, and nothing less than a Pearl Harbor/9-11 attack at that.

You would think he would learn, but I doubt it.
Even he must realise he has lost the support of the US electorate. So, he may press on with his so-called war against terrorism regardless. Or he may see such a war as a chance to renew his popularity. Either way, it is pretty much predictable.
As a Brit, I think Bush and Blair are the Pinky & Perky of world leaders.

fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me. I doubt congress would let him wage war on iran. What happend to wmd? we never found them in iraq. We wont go to war just because he said Iran is supplying weapons to terrorists because there is no real hard evidence. This is ridiculous because he is trying to pull another Iraq and i hope americans are smart enought not to let another war happen. If we go to war with iran there will be hugh consequences for america and the world because it will lead to WWIII no doubt.

I think Ahmadinejad may want to go to war with the US, in order to make the Hidden Mahdi reveal himself at last.
