Not According to them...
Chevelle's present success seems that much sweeter in the ugly context of their first record deal, which in the long run turned out to be a big, fat mess. Prior to signing with current label Epic, Chevelle was involved with a decent-sized independent label alongside artists like Sixpence None the Richer. Despite the fact that several of its artists were charting nationally, the label more or less went straight into the toilet, and tried to drag the bands down with it. "They screwed us really bad. We were in court battles with them trying to get out of that," Loeffler relates with more than a little bitterness. "They folded right after that, so it doesn't make sense for them to fight with us. But they did anyway and caused us a lot of problems. It took a while to get out of that and get rolling with the new label and get the new record going." As was the case with Sixpence, it took Chevelle three years until the band was able to release its follow-up album. Fortunately, fans were waiting with open arms.
The problem was compounded by the fact that Chevelle's former label was backed financially by Word Entertainment, a super- power in the Christian music industry. By default, many music listeners believed that Chevelle was, in fact, a "Christian band." And, right or wrong, many music fans avoid Christian bands like the plague. While the Loefflers have no problems with Christianity whatsoever, Chevelle simply doesn't happen to be a Christian band. And that, says Loeffler, is why it is especially difficult to deal with the stigma that comes with that label. "It's been a big problem. It's really stupid," he rants. "I don't get it, personally. Yeah, it's been pretty frustrating for all of us for a long time." But, as the band's platinum album illustrates, it's all good now.

Their only "christian cd" would have been point #1. After that, they've included some christian influences, but haven't considered themselves to be a christian band.

I wouldn't say they are a "Christian Band" any more than Creed was, but they do have a strong belief structure that they produce their music through. Spiritual more than Religious. :-)

i think that they are but i'm not sure. if they're a christian band doesn't mean they have to sing about God in every single song. POD was refered to as a christian band and they didn't either. but if you notice, they don't sware or sing about sex and drugs ect
