My boyfriend and I have lived together for over a year, yesterday he proposed. We had been talking about it for awhile and had pretty much decided that we would be married "some day." I know I should be excited. I mean, I knew it was coming...but I have this crazy feeling that maybe I don't want to go through with it. I've thought about just having a long engagment and not worrying about wedding plans just yet...to see how things go...but in a way I would like to see what else is out there. It's not fair to either of us for me to secretly feel this way. I don't want to talk to him about it and hurt his feelings, he is really excited about this. Is this a normal thing to feel? just cold feet? Some advice please.

Only you can answer this. Use the old test- Are you better off with or without him? Are you ready to settle down? Do you really want marriage?

cold feet happens when you are about to get married; not during the engagement. I think you owe it to him to talk to him about your fears. If it doesn't make you feel any better, then maybe you should break it off, or tell him you want a long engagement.

Trust me, you're not missing anything in regards to what else is out there. If you have something good, hold on to it, and if he feels the same way you do then there's no reason why you shouldn't get married.
