The best way to get into this business is to start small, build a reputation in a small, local market, then work your way us as far as your skills will carry you.

How to start? Create a jingle for a friend's business. Offer it for free. (Without any experience, you have little bargaining power to ask for money yet.) Keep at it. You WILL find someone who will let you do this. Once you have your work accepted, repeat the process. Soon, you will have several jingles out in the marketplace.

Next, compile a "demo reel" of your work, and take it to a local radio station. Talk with the program director or the sales manager and tell them you'd like to create jingles for some of their sponsors. See if you can work out a deal where they sell your work and you split the $$. (Give them an incentive to help your career; this works.)

This formula has worked for many people that I have advised. Give your work away FREE at first. Start small. And work hard to move up.

Good luck.
