I live in an apartment complex, and for the past week they've been working on the apartment complex next door. They're painting it, using paint thinner and paint, and the strong chemical smell has been wafting into my non-insulated apartment for several days now. I feel like I've been unusually foggy-headed over these past days. Could that by why? The other complex is run by a different management company, but should I complain about this? (As in "You should've warned the local residents that you were going to be using these chemicals") I'm really upset about the situation, since the painters told me yesterday that this will be going on for a MONTH! Any advice appreciated... thanks.

Any of those noxious fumes can be dangerous. You are not hypochondriac at all. It always states on all of those cans of glues and paint thinners, paint or cleaning products to have well ventilation. When I have some issues I use a bit of Vick's vapo rub inside my nasal passage. Just dab a Q-tip and put that inside the nasal area. The vapor smell will help you breath better and maybe help lessen the smell of those fumes. Sinus problems can nasty and give you headaches so the vapor from the Vick's will feel soothing and give you some relief. Take a couple Ibuprofen for the headaches and this might help you get through the day better.
