For his comments about how he hates gay people, that was awesome. why is it that now-a-days people think you have to be tolerant with gays? and if you don't like gays your homophobic? what the hell, im not scared of them, i just don't like them and think they shouldn't be allowed. I hate how the world trys to mold people to think its normal now and its not, not at all its sick

I gained a lot of respect for him Tim Hardaway too, he is a true man, a true man is not afraid of standing up against whats wrong in society.

Many "gay" people defend their "gayness", by comparing their campaign for acceptance to the campaign of blacks fighting for civil rights and integration. Homosexuality is a sinful act, being black is not an act, all men are created equal, but homosexuality distinguishes the perverted, just like pedophilia and incest.

Here's hoping my answer will be voted "Best Answer"!

I humbly disagree with you. I am not surprised that an NBA player, active or retired would comment on Amaechi's public announcement that he's gay because we live in a world where homosexuals are still discriminated against.

That being said, Hardaway didn't gain my respect nor did he lose it. I don't think gay people are sick so I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Funny how if a white athlete came out and said he hates black people, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the like would be all over it. Same would happen if he said what Hardaway said. Jackson and his Rainbow coalition preach tolerance, but only when a white person is being intolerant. My feelin is this: it does not affect me at all, so who cares. I still have a family and my company did not go bankrupt over these comments. Just more overreaction to get a story.

Yo Tim Hardaway was a great basektball player so i always had respect for him. I give him credit for saying he hates gays even though most people in our world has to be politically correct to the media or they turn u into some monster. (EX: Mel Gibson) I got no problems with a gay dude as long as he doesn't try something on me or act gay around me. No offense to any gays, but sometimes you guys are annoying when you "act" too gay.

Respect? How can you respect someone who declared he HATES a huge segment of the population? It seems a bit harsh to me, and to most others it seems, frankly.
Are you proud when someone has the "courage" to say they hate Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, handicapped people, or any other minority? Most sensible bigots keep their views to themselves, for fear that they will become objects of hatred themselves. It looks like Mr. Hardaway will find out what it is to be hated, which might be a good lesson for him.

Anyone who can hate and basically prejudge a human bieng/group is the sheep that has been molded.Hate prejudice is a desease/virus that destroys lives, and countries. It keeps us as human biengs, from growing as a person as a country and as a planet. We need to fight that desease that keeps us from growing, don't be a sheep. There are only two types of people, good and evil, everything else doesn't matter..

sigh.

i dont think you should HATE people.
Tim Hardaway is SCARED of gays. He doesn't just not like them, he HATES THEM and refuses to be in the SAME ROOM as them.

he should realize that as a black man, in the early 1900's the white folk had the same perception of black people as the general public has against gays.

they are afraid of them, don't understand them, hate them for no reason other than they are different from their own standard norm.

Don't get me wrong, i'm from a strong Christian household but we have a gay member in our extended family. Do we hate him? no!

Just because you don't believe that its right to be gay, doesn't mean you HATE gay people. That's like saying "you know you really don't like basketball, you have a completely different preference from me, i'm not going to judge you on your personality or anything BUT THAT FACT, I HATE YOU".

just silly and ignorant. Jesus taught us to love and care for others, try it sometime.

Also no one says its normal, no one says you have to go out and be "gay". I think people are blowing it out of proportion. Its still not "normal" , the gay sector of America is still a relatively small minority.

you may disagree with someones ideas, but dont be in disagreement with the person

Yeah I love Tim Hardaway. He rocks.....literally. Sounds like you're a bit of a closet homosexual yourself if you're into Gay porn stars like me ol' butt buddy Tim but yet openly display a prejudice against people who are into Man love. Admit it, you take a dive in the brown pool every Thursday with your buddy from bowling.

Just the opposite. I lost huge respect for him. And I liked him as a player, too.

He revealed himself to be a hateful, bigoted moron. It's one thing for him to say, "I wouldn't have been too comfortable with an openly gay teammate." That would have been an honest thing to say.

But for him to say he "HATES" gays, "they shouldn't be allowed in the United States," and that gay players shouldn't be in the NBA -- well, that's pure hate speech. He deserves every piece of blowback that's going to come his way, including significant losses in income because corporations don't want to be associated with someone who would spew such garbage.

And I feel sorry for anyone that says they "respect" someone for spouting such hate and anger toward their fellow man.

Dude the guy said he was homophobic first of all!.....second, you don't have to like them but it doesn't mean that you have the right to openly abuse them verbally. They are still human....its just common decency, it comes down to the simple phrase "treat others the way you want to be treated." Did you think it was right for those who are racist to slander black people, to harm them both physically and emotionally?
