Im a lvl 40 orc, and i dont have a profession. do you think i can learn a profession now. i really need money for a mount but i only have 20 gold. do you think gettin a profesion could help me more than just grinding and get stuff from monsters. i prefer alchemy and herbelism . cause i play at a pvp server and healing potions help a lot during pvp action.

Alchemy is good if your going to be an all-out PvP player. If you're going to be an all-around player (RP, PvP, misc. stuff), then I would highly recommend getting Mining and Engineering. Or! If you have the Burning Crusade expansion, try out Jewelcrafting. I haven't tryed it yet. Might be some profit in that... Grinding and running higher-level dungeons and stuff is probably going to be MUCH easier than a profession to gain money. Happy playing!

if you want to make money be a gatherer... mining, skinning, herbalism, and gathering cloth. since the exp BC came out and the new profession jewelcrafting is a neat thing to get into the need for mining items is higher and you can charge more for it. you wont make as much money from skinning as you can from gathering herbs IMO because there are a lot of pvpers and bgers in the game and people are always looking for stuff to make pots. but you can get a lot of leather from skinning if you grind a lot. so it really depends on how you play.

The best thing that you should do is get herbelism, and mining. because if you pick some of these plants, they sell for about 5g a stack. And mining always gets you money. So I'd stick with one of those.

you could be a "gatherer" for now and make money that way...since the expansion is new , prices for minerals are up...so you could be a miner..and then be an herbalist and sell the flowers you pick
