This is B4 I started him on the cereal, I just started the cereal last week. I thought if i put in a little cereal it would fill him up to where he wouldn't have to eat 4 oz every 2 hours. (He was born 8lbs 12 oz)

Hi. My son was 6lbs (had to be induced early) when he was born and almost 16lbs by the end of 3 months. He's just turned 2 years old and is at the 50% mark on his weight. Don't worry yet, he will be perfectly fine just keep doing what you're doing!!

you also need to see how tall he is, my son was 15 lbs. 13 oz at his 2 month check-up, the doctor said he was fine because he was 24 1/2 inches long in the 95% for both so he evened out. My son eats 6 oz every 4-7 hours the doctor said usually an ounce should last them an hour. But unfortunately there is nothing you can do until they start moving around and work off that baby fat.

I have a 2 1/2 month old boy in my daycare (he's my cousin's baby) and he weighs 16 lbs also. It's pretty funny b/c my little girl is 5 1/2 months old and doesn't even weigh that much yet...we call him the "tank" because he looks so stalky compared to my girl. I think boys are just naturally a little bigger, as long as the Dr. isn't concerned I'd leave it alone right now. When he starts on table foods then you can worry about it more...just make sure he starts out eating healthy foods from the get-go and gets plenty of outside playtime when he's a toddler. Sounds like you are a great mom, you can relax at least for the time being :)

Your baby's weight it normal and don't let anyone (except your doctor) tell you different. There are weight/height charts on the internet that you can follow to see his progress. As long as he is in range (90th percentile or below) he's fine.I know for a fact that your boy is fine because my baby was 16.9 at 3mo (on breastmilk only) . That is fine for the weight chart. I take him every month to be weighed and measured by the doctor. He is 6mo and 19.4 now. I go with what the doctor says. No infants should be on diets!! Wait on solids till around 6mo. Breast milk/ formula is all they need till then. Remember once they starting moving/crawling the weight will fall off. As a toddler, keep the food he eats healthy. Good habits start now.

Ps. Don't put the cereal in the bottle. Wait till 6 mo or so, then only feed it to him with a spoon. He has to learn that real food doesn't come in a bottle. It is also false that giving a baby solids will help them sleep through the night

At 3 months old he is just on formula I am assuming, or breast milk. I would recommend putting him on a feeding schedule 4 oz every two hours, and if he cries for more USE the binky!! The more you offer it to him the more he will grow used to it. I also have an overweight 3 yr old. Shes 53 lbs. And I now have a 4 month old. The binky has made all the difference! Hope this helps. Good luck!

i does no longer complication. medical doctors are continuously putting forward little tid bits of information that we think about about for weeks! My son replaced into 6 pounds 12 oz. At 3 months he in elementary words weighed 10 pounds and my well being care provider stated he ought to benefit some weight. he's healthful and reached his milestones early and is a contented 18 month old with a tremendous urge for nutrition and nevertheless on the skinny part. each and every toddler is different. She'll shed extra pounds even as she starts crawling and also you'll omit the toddler fat. :-)

It's not abnormal, it's just not at the 50% percentile (which would be 13-13.5lbs). Don't do anything at this point, just make sure when he starts foods other than formula or breast milk that he gets a balanced diet including lots of fruits and vegetables.

I had the same problem with my baby boy, he was an 11 pound baby, give it a little time, and it will even itself out, mine is 18 months, and he is at a normal weight now, but if it still makes you uncomfortable, talk to your son's pediatrician.

It's possible that the cereal you are putting in his bottle is causing him to gain weight more quickly. You should probably stop putting cereal in his bottle and wait until he is 6 months to restart it.
