Think of an old song that sounds crappy for one reason or another (like an old country song that sounds all twangy or something from the 60s that has that "flower power" sound or one that is just sung by the wrong artist) but has great lyrics and would sound really great if it were updated.

Say Hello, Wave Goodbye. Its actually an 80's song by Soft Cell. Its the B-Side to Tainted Love. By Soft Cell the song is actually pretty bad in my opinion. David Gray did a cover of the song and put it on his White Ladder album. His cover of the song is surpurb and top notch. One of the best covers of any song Ive ever heard.
