I'd never tell a soon-to-be parent not to choose the name that has stolen his/her heart, but...
I would consider very strongly how other kids may react to such a "flamboyant" name. Kids are cruel, and no matter how good your intentions, they will pounce on every opportunity they may see. Unfortunately, a child can overcome a bad haircut or a nasty rumor, but no one can escape his or her name.
I also try to consider whether my future baby will always have to spell his or her name to teachers, etc. That can be an ongoing problem later in life when he enters the business world. As unfair as the results may be, studies have shown that applicants with unusual names don't stand out amongst other applicants, they are often overlooked and the Michaels and Johns of society get all of the good jobs.
Don't feel pressured to choose a boring, overused, name. Find a compromise that will allow your boy to be individual without being teased.
(The names I am considering for my October baby are Bennett Matthew and Elise Renae.)
Good Luck!

Well, I think that it is a good name- but only if you have some Italian blood. If he doesn't look foreign at all, then it will just be seen by others as sort of a "designer" name, and thus too glitzy sounding for a boy.

Giovanni is a great opera star. Sounds promising if you are into that sort of thing. Please note, Giovanni is also the name of a bad guy in Pokemon... and that has been around for forever here, so I guess it's a matter of taste.
I like it though.
