of a subpeona? I heard that if you didn't live near the county that court is being held, there is a way to get out of having to go. Does anyone know if this is true?

It's not for something that I did. It's not for something that was did to me. It's not for something that I had anything to do with and it's a four hour drive and between $70-80 dollars out of my pocket to go there a day? .... Screw them. I know there's a way to get out of it.

If you do not go to the courts, a warrant will be issued for your arrest. That's cut and dried. I am a court advocate, and I must say that you MUST respond to the legal document you have, period. When the warrant is processed, and you find police on your doorstep, it will not be fun. Just answer the subpoena and stay out of trouble that is larger!

A subpoena is a legal action commanding your presence in court. To disobey invokes a contempt of court charge against you. You can be arrested for contempt of court.

I have also heard of cases where the court will reimburse witnesses who have been summoned for their travel expenses. I would ask about this since you are distant from the court location.

It is called a warrent and it is jail time. If you have a subpoena to be somewhere for something, show up, you say it is costly to you, I think that it is better then to be in jail for failure to appear.

It depends on what kind of preceding it is. If it's for you to testify to your own crime...then you will probably have to go! No matter how far away you live.
