Yeah, you're divorced. Typically, though, divorce by publication is only used when one spouse can't be located. I'm somewhat surprised that the court went for this, since it seems like you have at least one minor child.
As for what you should do, I suggest you go to a lawyer *now*. The purpose of divorce-by-publication (in which one spouse publishes a notice of their intention to divorce in the newspaper) is to allow the other spouse time to contest the divorce. Since you missed that time, you'll need to try and play catch-up, especially if you want to make legal provisions for child support or custody. His behavior sounds pretty shady to me.

Technically you are legally divorced. Many states require 'service' of the divorce summons as you well know. However, if for some reason service is not possible, then the notification goes in the paper for an alloted period of time [required by law] - if no response to that publication is required, the divorce is granted to the petitioner.
Evidently SOMEONE stated you could not be served in person.
At any rate, you knew you were being divorced, so what's the problem? If it is because of monetary settlement or something similar, you can still file in court for that.
Nothing will happen to him. Who said he lied? He is not the one who serves and the courts usually try to locate an address for the person being served. You might ask for a record of the entire procedure from the courts...that will tell you all you need to know.

You cannot get an illegal divorce.... divorces by definition are legal documents of financial and social separation and of dissolving a civil contract---marriage.
About the only way you could have been divorced is if you could not have been found.... papers have had to have been mailed to you , and you have had to have signed them, unless you cannot be found, in which case the courts can grant your husband a divorce after a period of time --- it varies state by state.
Thus, if he has been in contact with you, and has filed paper to you, and you signed them, and were granted a divorce date, and you did not contest the divorce prior to signing the papers, hon you are indeed divorced.
If he has married without divorcing you first, he has committed bigotry, and that is illegal in the United State. One cannot be married to two people at the same time....
You can get a copy of your divorce papers at your county court house... the cost is usually about $15.

The legal ramifications are penal complicated time for attack with a perilous weapon. The civil ramifications are a wrongful demise lawsuit filed by potential of the sufferers kin in the adventure that they die, or an harm lawsuit filed in the adventure that they are injured. If it were me, i might want to lock the refrigerator. an option is to close the storage door on them and get in contact with 9-a million-a million. they're burglars because they entered your storage with the motive to scouse borrow beer. tell the 9-a million-a million operator that you've a burglar trapped on your storage. I promise you that the police will be there ASAP.

how did he lie? and why do you care you were seperated right? Or are you mad at the situation because he is now remarried and obviously moved on and you haven't? Your divorced let it be...why take legal ramifications? Will just make you look bad in the end. Be the bigger person for your daughters sake and move on.

Let it go.....no wonder he divorced you....yikes.
It's not his job to get you the paperwork....go over it with you, notify you, etc., etc.....if "by publication" he followed the requirements of the law....then there is nothing you can do about it.
A lot of times, the courts do the serving, because if the spouce did it, there might be trouble (violence, etc.).
Check your mail....we all have mail we don't open, maybe something is in there?
If there is no waiting period between divorce and remarriage, then maybe he's fine.
Do your daughter (and yourself) a favor.....FORGIVE.....and get over your hatered and anger. Get counseling, if you have to. Write a private journal, get your feelings out, then burn it.
Don't teach your daughter to "get back".....teach her to love...

IF the courts say your divorced, you more than likely are.
You can ask to see the court papers and see if anything was "forged" as you.
Then get an attorney. Fight him and the courts.
