An answer other than "to get to the other side" would be good!!

The chicken waited pasionately to cross the road but there where too many cars there. While waiting there the chicken layed an egg. The egg start rolling on the road but a coming vechicle crushed it. Then it layed a second, a third and after many attempts one of the eggs survived from the tires of the cars and reached safely the other side of the road. The first chicken died, cause it was exhausted laying eggs all the time but on the other side a new chicken was born. By any mean a chicken lives now on the other side of the road

the chicken crossed the road because she was curious which among the roosters on the other side of the road winked at her and sent her a mental telepathy by crowing 'i want to do the chicken dance with you'.

How do we know that the chicken really crossed the road?
Just saying so doesn't make it so.

I have thought about this question...the chicken never went to the other side...I'm not Catholic so excuse me if I get this word wrong) He actually genuflecked? the road and stayed right where he was?
