C'mon people we are all AMERICANS and we have to stick together. Whether you agree or not, our troops are there and are on a mission. We are not at war with the Iraqi people we are there to help our ally because the world needs their oil and an enemy is threatening to weaken thier infrastructure. We are one of the most selfless nations in the world to help them, and inturn help the world, especially POOR countries who depend on oil. Some of you act like we are a bunch of renegades invading for no reason except that Bush wants to. The enemy is laughing at us that we are becoming divided. It is what they want. Doesn't this bother you? It bugs the $h1T outta me!

YES ! It's called patriotism.
I don't agree with the boss (BUSH), but hey we're over there now , and the troops need SUPPORT for what they do over there. I have 2 friends from work over there and I keep them in my prayers every day. By the way (liberals take note): they are over there because they VOLUNTEERED for service as they are both fine men of honor. Their character can NEVER be comprimised and that is what makes a man ,.... A MAN .

Can you put your preconceived notions aside and consider the following?

We have caused the deaths of between 50,000 and 700,000 iraqis. Their electricity worked under Hussein, but not under us. They are afraid to leave their houses. There was never an Al Queda presence there until we opened their country to this group.

WE need their oil. The world is going to run out in the next 30 years, no matter what we do. They are the only country that is "well before peak production" of oil. Bush invaded to give us AMericans a few extra years of oil. That makes it almost sound OK, but it is not. We are not selfless; we are doing this for US.

What poor countries are we pretending to help with their oil? I truly missed that whole thing.

American patriotism isn't about blindly following orders.

The Founding Fathers BELIEVED in criticism. That's basically all the Federalist Papers did. Even when the Constitution was being drafted, there were critics. These critics (who would probably be called "unpatriotic") criticized the Constitution because it didn't protect individual rights, and fought to have the Bill of Rights amended into the Constitution.

It would be absolutely un-American to stand by and say "Let's put our hatred of Bush aside." George Washington was deathly afraid that tyrants would come into power in the US and spend US lives in wars abroad for their own interests.

Lastly, poor countries don't depend on oil. The US depends on oil. How much oil do you think these "poor countries" need?

Imagine how much better things would be if Bush had done the right thing and only attacked the people who attacked us. i.e. Afghanistan

He had a golden moment and nearly the entire world's full support right after 9/11. Even the , at the time moderate" leadership in Iran was saying that the US had the right to defend herself.

We had no issues in Venezuela yet, N. Korea had developed a bomb and was looking for a direct negotiations with the US, we still had a budget surplus... I could go on.

Now you think about how badly Bush has screwed that all up.

Finally someone who gets it!!
Any time that i hear someone speaking bad about Bush i think of them on the other side because they do not support the President and argue with other Americans. This country is becoming divided and it's so sad but true.
All Bush wants is oil and with the gas prices i say we could really use it, i remember when gas was .98 a gallon!
He's also trying to help a country get back on their own feet, now what's so bad about that?!

we all agree that the troops are there
but
thats when the agreement stops
What mission? Never has been defined
What Ally? Certainly you do not believe that Iraq is or ever was our ally
What enemy? Its the people of Iraq that are fighting each other

Selfless??? if that were so we'd be in Dafar

Divided--------Now we agree--------I have the feeling, that if Hillary Clinton was in office when all of this started, you'd have a much different opinion

So are you suggesting we support the government's decisions no matter what?
Isn't that what they do in totalitarian countries? Isn't that what fascists demand?
Look at history. This country was built on dissent. If it weren't for us disagreeing with the government, we'd still be part of the United Kingdom.
And the enemy isn't laughing at us because we want to get out of Iraq. They're laughing at us because we got bogged down there in the first place. Spending billions and sacrificing the most irreplaceable commodity we produce, our patriotic and brave young.
So don't you dare call me unpatriotic, simply because I don't want to see more die over this fiasco.

I've always kept my love for my country, the United States of America, separate from my politics.
My country is my home, my life and soul. My country includes it's warriors (soldiers, police, taxpayers, etc.)
I have no idea where or what to label it's politicians. I am extremely concerned with the damage so many of them are doing to our name.
So I vote, write letters and try not to sound like a fanatic when I complain but.........

It's not possible to suport Bush and support the USA. Nor is it possible to support a war that was launched (as you say) for no good reason but that Bush wanted the war--and in the same breath pretend to either a moral high ground or to supporting our trrops.

No, putting aside opposition to Bush is not an option. He is a disgrace to thei United States and has thrown away the lives of thousands of American soldiers to feed his own ego as "the decider."
