I am taking the 3-day treatment(my last treatment is tonight) and have been drinking and eating yogurt and yogurt smoothies. How will I know that I am cured after the 3 days? I did not have any symptoms(my dr. found it when I went in to check on my antibiotics) Is there anything else I can take or do to insure I get rid of this? When can I have sex again?

Ask your doctor. Only a culture will tell if the infection is gone.

To avoid future infections:

Always wear white cotton panties. Nylon and Lycra may trap air and create a breeding ground for yeast. Never wear panty hose alone--always wear cotton panties underneath.

Never use petroleum-based lubricants for vaginal lubrication during sexual intercourse. Always use water-based lubricants when vaginal dryness is an issue.

Always wipe from front to back after a bowel movement to prevent the yeast which normally inhabits the intestinal tract from being transferred to the vaginal area.

Eating one cup of yogurt a day helps some women prevent the yeast infections that often follow antibiotic treatment; however, eating yogurt will not cure a yeast infection.

Don't use perfumed bath products or powders in the vaginal area, these can cause irritations which can lead to infection.

Don't use douches! Douches wash away the natural protective mucous of the vagina leaving the vagina more susceptible to yeast and other vaginal infections.

If you are on an antibiotic this maybe why you have a yeast infection and it's normal for woman to get them while taking the antibiotic.
Second, while your partner can get a yeast infection as long as he keeps up good personal hygiene and he is circumcised there shouldn't be any problem. By the time you finishing taking the medication you should be fine. As long as you don't have symptoms. However, if your unsure talk with your doctor.

Treat you partner..The above answers are pretty on the ball. Two aspects I will mention here is that when you have a yeast infection vaginal you also haev a general yeast infection. Please see source to test yourself at home.
Your diet: Vegetables and proteins….No cheeses as possible and sure no pasta, white rice and sugar. Avoid artificial sweeteners as they do not help your immune system. Most grains convert in sugar It is kind of bare diet. I would start with sugar white bread and pasta. That is already a lot
Treat your vagina with garlic and yoghurt or kefir. Some people think it is disgusting but it works. Also keep going with your acidophilus and or kefir. Be sure you have a good quality and it should be in the fridge. Take Oil of Oregano by mouth for at least 6 weeks and recheck yourself with the spit test. Oil of Oregano is anti bacterial anti viral/ anti yeast/ fungal remedy….amazing. It is a long process but it will increase your health and immune system on the long run.

Yes, Antibiotics can cause thrush...the advise of acidophilus is great. Kefir too. be sure both are in the fridge otherwise the quality is gone. Another fact is that might you have a yeast infection, see source how to test your self at home for yeast infection.

It was most likely the antibiotics that caused the yeast infection. Some times they can be slight, which would be the reason why you did not have any symptoms. Your best bet is to complete the treatment as directed, and obstain for a couple of days, since you can give the infection to your partner. If you are still on the antibiotics, I would check with your doctor to make sure that the infection is gone.

Well believe it or not your partner can actually be giving you the yeast infection even if they have no symptoms. You should have them checked as well. Also what you are already doing is great. If it continues you may need to boil all of your underwear. Just because your panties are clean doesn't mean that they are "clean". Boiling them can get rid of a potential infection source for good. Also there are some women that just get them all the time. My mother is one of them. Hope this helped!

Grapefruit seed extract is great at getting rid of yeast infections and preventing them. Just take one daily with your breakfast.

Don't eat much sugar. That feeds the infection.

You shouldn't have sex for a week to ten days after starting treatment.

Keep eating the yogurt with live active cultures or use acidophillus capsules daily every day. Give it a couple days after you finish your last treatment to be sure you get rid of the yeast before you have sex again. Also you may want to ask your partner to get checked to be sure he doen't have it so he doesn't give it back to you if he has it.

Did your doc tell you to eat yogurt? I would avoid the stuff. Wear cotton undies, drink lots of water.
