the car will start no problem, but when you engage first gear, the clutch and gas pedal, the car does not move or accelrate at all. The clutch pedal is normal and not low. Could it be the clutch, engine related or is it something else.

The car started giviing us problems by barely moving and taking a while to get up to speed, then it got worse and to a point where it just will not move at all when first gear and clutch is engaged

Your feedback and advise would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks

If, when in gear, the engine rpm's go up but the car does not accelerate, then the clutch is the problem. But, if in gear and the rpm's don't seem to come up and the car does not accelerate, then you probably have a fuel problem, and then you start by changing the filter.

I basically offered a 1990 civic DX hatchback approximately 2 or so months back it had 250,000kms large sparkling and an o.e.m deck. I paid 1800 for this and so a strategies has had no problems with it. in order that which you comprehend those automobiles do burn oil yet its becoming to be greater uncommon i dont comprehend why, mine doesent. i'd say thats an exceedingly sturdy deal yet be absolutly specific that's what he says that's. btw its an exceedingly exciting motor vehicle :) basically dont take **** from different automobiles who cant see you on the line lol

if the engine runs fine and will still rev up when you let out the clutch all of the way, the clutch is completely fried. youll need to get it replaced, and it will likely cost a little more than a regular cjutch job because some of the components that dont usually need replacing may need to be replaced with that much wear.

Im not clear from your explanation...

Does the engine rpm come down like it is trying to go and it has no power? if so, its a bad catalytic convertor.

If the clutch being let out has no affect on the engine rpm, it is the clutch.

If the car idles fine . Smoothe and no missing, it could be bad spark plugs or spark plugwires /plug boots. I had a 91 Camry do it with about 60,000 miles on it.If the car has ignition coils they may be bad only under a load( car moving)

You need a new clutch. A good days work if you have a friend who's done one before to guide you along.
