Give the money back. For many years we have shown a decrease in integrity, values and morals. Sometimes I wonder how we will even survive in this world any longer. For those who do not believe in God, try just being a good person for no other reason then you want to be treated good in return. There is a saying to live by. “Always do the right thing for the right reason, even when no one is looking.” It makes you a better person and you will be able to live with yourself. As you get older you realize the importance of all this.
If you want to give the money to your Grandmother for the wear and tear on her vehicle then that may be fair. YOU decide! As someone suggested, get her to give you a receipt. Well, many of these answers were to be expected. This has nothing to do with Wal-Mart or the inconvience. Just do what is right. It is easy to make excuses for doing the wrong thing - espcially when it comes to money.

I agree with guesscook.
You should give the money to your granny. Not only is that the nicest thing to do, but since Walmart intended that money to allow you the use of a car, and your granny facilitated that, it's proper use of the money.
I would agree with the suggestion of getting a receipt from your granny however. It never hurts to cover all bases...especially since it costs you nothing extra.

I would say keep the money. In exchange for not renting a car, you may still need to money to reimburse your grandma for the use of her car. I suggest giving it to your grandma as a thank you for her help and the loan of her car. You can give her a receipt in case anyone were to ask, but I don't think Wal-Mart is going to look into this matter.

I doubt you'd get in any trouble for keeping it. If Walmart wanted proof, they would have asked for it before they sent you the money.
The right thing to do would be to call customer claims and explain what happened.
Two things could happen. They could tell you to keep the money. They might ask you to send the money back.

Keep the money and give some to your granny for her generousity. That money is yours, not Wal-Marts anymore!
I have tried using Wal-Mart for minor things with my car and am never satisfied. I have been mis-charged twice, and was even CUSSED OUT by one of the employees because (after waiting 45 minutes) I asked him how long the wait was going to be (which I was the ONLY person in line). It's crazy!

its yours free and legal. So it is really just a matter of your mind.
Regardless of your age you are entitled to adequate travel fees when they have damaged your own vehicle. What you do with those fees is up to you. So you can keep it, send it back, or give to granny. If you send it back however, it is just pointless for walmart. They have already made adjustments and the money to them is just gone. They will just write it off.
So either take the money for your own time, or give to granny.
Legally it doesn't matter.

Split the money with your gran for helping you out. Keep the rest for your inconvenience. You are due this money because of their screw up. How you use it is up to you. Walmart has been doing a good job of ruining the US economy, screwing their employees and ripping people off for over 40 years. Be thankful they didn't wiggle out of it, and you got what you were rightfully due. Hope you learned a lesson, stay away from WalMart. You get what you pay for...Garbage.
Be Happy.

You are thoughtful to think of this! If you honestly don't need the money, you'll feel better sending it back. But in good faith I think you can use it for the extra expenses of using your Grandmothers car. Use it for gas or give some to your grandma for anything she may need for the car she is now driving. Legally, you are entitled to the money. Morally, I think you're safe. God bless you!

Unless you intend to go to court about the matter, the money is indemnity for the trouble they gave you.
It does not matter that you did not actually have to rent a car. It's not enough to buy a good one anyway, so they are getting away with it rather cheaply.
That money is yours, period.
