Go to the nearest microwave (this works best at an office)....
Open it up....
Look at the "ceiling" in it.

OMG mine is layered with years worth of work. Like stalactites; i swear!

I always cook refried beans in mine without anything covering the bowl of beans, so mine is covered with little beanie stalactites. Pretty gross; maybe I should do something about that!

I think it's funny some of the maternal signs hanging up near the microwaves that say, "if you make a mess YOU NEED TO CLEAN IT UP."

When I see such lecturing, sanctimonious, self-appointed parental posturing, I purposefully spill my goopy kung pow sauce as much as possible and let it bake on for a few extra minutes.

Mine is clean
I learned a little trick use a microwave safe bowl and put it half full with water and one squirt of dish soap microwave that on high for 3 min. It will wipe right off all that stuck on food no scrubbing.

I live with a clean freak. So there's no way anything could build up on any surface here...lol! =) But when I lived alone...my microwave was pretty gross!

mine is clean as a whistle. Every night while I am washing the dishes, I put some vinigar in a coffee mug and heat it up so it steams, then I just wipe it out with a cloth. The steam loosens the bits from the top.
