here is a few points to read and give your opinion on

first off if you see me coming with a smoke you can go away right??
but what about the drunk driving down the road and you dont see a bottle hanging out of his mouth

do you want to ban drinking because of bad drunks who beat their wives, kids or kill someone driving drunk

remember i am walking or driving with a smoke

also when i buy a carton of smokes 40+ dollars is taxes
figure that out for every smoker in the US thats alot of $$$$

so now are you going to get on your soap boxes when they raise everyones taxes because they cut out smoking

think about it for a bit

BunnyFooFoo and a friend went outside to smoke once... happily talking and puffing away, when 2 ladies came outside a few minutes later and proceeded to stand 5 feet away from us, downwind... and she shot us a few dirty looks then stormed over to tell us to move because she didnt want to breathe our smoke.

Mind you we were outside, in a parking lot that was bigger than a football field...

Now does that make any sense?!

Soapbox that bishes!

One thing at a time! You have a point, and we can keep on voting for politicians who will press for car emissions to be radically cut, and for research to be funded to develop new, cleaner fuels. But given the way society runs these days, we can't just cut out car use altogether, overnight, can we? Whereas we CAN cut out smoking indoors in public places, without having any adverse effect on anything (except maybe some multinationals and their shareholders, who feed off other people's addictions.) Even the smokers will benefit along with rest of us, from the sweeter air inside pubs etc when smoking in them is banned, because no amount of extraction ever really gets rid of the fumes. A lot has been said about smoking being OK out-of-doors. In fact, there's something about cigarette smoke that catches your throat and eyes even outside - and I don't suffer from asthma. So please can we have No Smoking areas outside! At least until smoking eventually drops off, when smokers begin to appreciate sweeter air again and realise what they have been missing. By-the-way: I put a question on here as to whether people would go to pubs MORE when the smoking ban starts. And the answer was generally yes.

True, you can walk away from someone smoking but that doesn't keep it from going into the air. Smokers have the right to smoke but they don't have the right to pollute the fresh air from everyone who doesn't smoke. A non-smoker shouldn't have to be subjected to the poisons a smoker chooses to put in their bodies. Examples: If I want to go to one of the 100 billion Starbucks or any other coffee shop to get a cup of coffee and a muffin or bagel, I shouldn't have to walk through a group of smokers lit up forming clouds of smoke that looks like Los Angeles smog. If I go to a smokers house, I know and accept that I am subjecting myself to possible second hand smoke. If I get into a smokers car, I know and accept that I am subjecting myself to possible second hand smoke. If I go to a cigar club, I know and accept that I am subjecting myself to possible second hand smoke. If I take my kid to the park or Chuck E Cheese, we shouldn't be subjected to second hand smoke. If I'm sitting in traffic on a nice spring or summer day with my window rolled down, I shouldn't be subjected to second hand smoke. The car fumes are bad enough.

As far as drunk driving, any one who has more than 1 drink should automatically be put in a cab or have a designated driver called to pick them up. Anyone who kills or injures someone while under the influence should be convicted of murder or assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to life in prison not bs vehicular manslaughter with a few years sentence.

Smoking will never be banned completely because of the $$$$.

You think about it a bit.

We voted against the smoking ban last fall, but the ballot was so confusing that they had us either way.

Now, we have a designated area outside to smoke in which is just a canopy over top of a picnic table. The smoke is still in the open air. So what's the point !!

Next, Ohio will tell us when to wipe and flush.

I'd pay to see smoking banned. You say you wait until others finish their meal before you light up. So you walk around the restaurant and see if everyone is done? Because smoke travels, and will drift around other people in it. I'm so sick of smokers and "their rights". What about my right to clean air??? Smoking is not something you need to do to live. Your smoking is however affecting my health, and shortening my life. So from where I stand, your right to smoke does NOT take precedents over my right to clean air.

I'd pay higher taxes to get away from smoke. Your example of the drunk. That I can't avoid because I can't tell, a smoker, I can see and avoid. Why should I breathe in your smoke? You can not smoke, I can not avoid breathing. I should be able to enjoy my meal in a restaurant without having to smell the stench of a cigarette. I'm all for banning smoking in EVERY public place.

Smoking ban is going to be horrible.

I don't smoke, but it's a decision people make, and I won't judge if someone does it. Lord! The french (my people) do it all the time!

We'll never get rid of it for good. It's like prohibition in the US. People will just find a way to get their smokes in.

If people wanna smoke ciggys, go right ahead...just don't do it in front of me whilst I'm trying to do something. It's annoying.

Hey, I'm a smoker, and getting tired of being treated crappy. In the movie "Supersize Me", they make the point that overweight people are doing more damage to their health than smokers, but no one would dare call them out on it in public.
