Can I upload songs from Windows Media to an Ipod or only using an MP3 player?

I've been told you can only upload songs to an Ipod via ITunes and before I purchase one I want to make sure I'm not limited.

You have to use iTunes to put songs on to your iPod, but you don't have to get your music from iTunes. You can transfer your Windows Midia files over to iTunes and put them onto your iPod, but you have to go through iTunes to get songs onto your iPod. You are not limited on where you can get the music from though. I get a lot of my music from limewire, then transfer the files over to iTunes. I hope this helps you. Good luck...
