That's the same thing. When you look at a degree, you're basically looking for 4 letters (where it is in the group just depends on the degree). Here they are, from lowest to highest (generally).

A = Associates
B = Bachelors
M = Masters
D = Doctorate

They are the same. A PHD means (aside from Pretty Hard, Dammit!) a doctorate. When you have a PHD, you become a doctor, weather it be medical, educational or otherwise.

A Pd.D IS a Doctorate! They are the same thing.
