Peer and political pressure. It's funny, the Communists use to call that " Intellectual Colonization."

People are quite different outside of the U.S. and think that this will give them a type of in or make them culturally acceptable. So too when you see a pronounced affectation with basketball.

I'm originally from New York City. Lotsa basketball over there. I've never been into basketball. I'm still not into basketball at all. The day isn't going to shine I get into basketball. ( Pool, maybe. Last pocket! )

But I've seen this repeatedly and do pick up on it.

Kind of sad in a way.

People want to come here or stay here not realizing this place has major problems. Are the problems in their native countries/cultures such that they can't be fixed or an attempt made?

I can see where somebody would want to work here, save up, and go back, but that just tells me you think you can fix everything with money.

If that's all, and allegedly we are the end all be all in this regard, how come our problems didn't go away or get fixed?

Music is especially sensitive, and powerful. It goes right to your soul, I think. You become what you listen to. Just like they say: You are what you eat. So be wary of what you listen to.

Like decisions. First you make the decision. Then the decision makes you.

Really? Well I'm black and I don't even embrace the hip-hop culture. Lol - Not all black people like hip-hop/rap music. This is a perfect example of stereotyping. And what exactly is "acting" African American? Please do tell....

I guess you think we (black people) sit around and watch BET all day while sipping on Kool-Aid and eating fried chicken. Not all black women (girls as you put it) act the same.

Their very conservative and worship light/white skin. Many Indians are like this too and that's also why you see those really pale face Japanese people and why they always have umbrellas, they don't wanna get darker. Just the way a lot of Asians are

Filipino's are the closest to black (Asian wise) and everyone love hip hop. It was started by black and is apart of our culture and Filipino's are close to being black. So they are like us, enjoying their culture.

It depends where you live. People adapt to their surroundings. I grew up in Compton, California then moved to Orange County. Huge difference. I must say, looking back I was pretty black myself. The whole tuff act and something about the way you speak. haha, it's funny now.

What do you mean? "Ghetto" girls? Not all African American are "ghetto". It just depend how they were raised, who they hang out with, their whole environment.
