Why aren't columns up and down, and rows left to right? In Excel, you have all of the cells, but it's the rows that are vertical, and the columns that are horizontal.

It seems like a column is something that goes up and down, like a doric, ionic, or corinthian column. They're used as vertical support beams...they run vertical, shouldn't columns in other senses be of similar fashion?

Not in my copy of Excel they don't. If you click on the top of the left column the highlighting goes from top ot bottom just like a vertical support beam. If you click on the top of the next column that one highlights top to bottom ,etc. It always has done that from Office 97 up to Office 2003.

I don't know why your copy is strange and I just looked back at the setup options and they don't seem to offer that choice either.

In Excel, the columns ARE vertical; the rows ARE horizontal. Autocad I'm not familiar with, but I've been using Excel at an expert level for more than 10 years.

Dude... you are confused...

In Excel, as far as I know:

Columns are vertical and are arranged from left to right. For example: Column A, B, C, and D are arranged from left to right.

Rows are horizontal and are arranged from top to bottom. For example: Row 1, 2, 3, and 4 are arranged from top to bottom.

However, the individual computer application such as AutoCad may have a different definition. So, learn that definition and use it. It may be a weird definition, but if you're gonna use the app, you got to bear with the weird way it is used.

Don't confuse the column/row headers with the column/rows themselves. The headers are points of reference for the columns/rows.

The column headers are horizontal, on top of the vertical columns.

The row headers are vertical at the leftmost point of the horizontal rows.

now and again I do a "seek for" for "All archives and folders" thoughts "What length is it?"(commence, seek for, All archives and folders, What length is it?) . Then i seek for archives larger than, say, 10000KB (10mb). After it really is performed and provides you me a catalogue of archives, I then ensure no matter if to delete it or no longer. now and again I easily have old downloaded application archives something.zip that I delete. some are old drivers that I downloaded that i do not particularly want or different archives like tremendous video clips or photos. only those days i found an old homestead windows action picture Maker document that replaced into 40GB! because I had already burnt it to a CD, I deleted it. it may well be time to uninstall any classes you no longer use. So i imagine some homestead cleansing like Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup in "commence, All classes, upload-ons, gadget equipment" will launch more than a number of disk area. be particular you do Disk Defragmenter the very very last, when you've emptied the Recycle Bin.

I have never seen any version of Excel or any other progam where the columns are horizontal.
