Same thing that happened to me. I believed all the class warfare stuff - then I developed an academic interest in economics and a career interest in finance. I read the actual data and what economists, rather than political hacks, had to say about the data, and reality just doesn't square with the "1% of us are going great while the rest of us are worse off" crap Krugman and Dobbs feed to us.
