What so many libs fail to realize is: they would be the FIRST ones the terrorists would behead if given the chance. So-called "progressive values" will not endear liberals to the Muslims. The images of American culture displayed by Hollywood immorality is part of what the terrorists hate worst about us. The other part obviously, is our level of freedom in the West, which liberals use as license for all sorts of disgusting behavior.
Muslims don't hate capitalism or so-called "imperialism". It's the excesses of "progressive values" which keeps getting us attacked.
A few years back an American humanitarian who worked among poorer Palestinian Arabs made a comment to me. She said, "Those progressive American liberals who come over, who I have to work with, are always a problem. They idealistically think that they are coming to help people of similar values. In fact, Palestinian society is riddled with some of the worst sexism, racism, and classism you can encounter"

That was an amazing insight, and I completely agree with you. My husband is in the military and I am often floored that the secular progressive, anti-war protesters seem to think they can work all the worlds conflicts out over a soda pop. Peace, love and harmony are nice ideologies, but completely unrealistic in dealing with peoples who are on a seek and destroy mission. My husband, having served in Iraq, has told me that many of the people are like us in many ways. It's the radicals who are a huge threat to our safety and way of life and it's the radicals that the progressives feel the most compassion for. I wish I had an articulate summary as to why they feel that way, but my only conclusion is that they're loons.

Muslims do not dislike America becuase of it's culture or the way the decide to live their lives. The only problem the muslim world has with America is it's Foriegn policies. For example blind support for Isreal who are oppressing the Palestinians, turning a blind eye to Chechenya, preaching idealistic values as no WMD's and yet hypocritically has the biggest arsenal of WMD's in the world, the US governments clear fabrications to invade Iraq.
Travel the muslim world you'll find American food, American cars, movies, tv channels, clothes and American media. Does this sound like people who hate America?

Do you have a point or are you bashing liberals just for the sake of bashing liberals.
I wonder why is is that cons only single out liberals who criticize Bush. They never attack their own kind, conservatives who are very unhappy with the Bush administration. Instead we get rhetorical nonsense like we have here, that the libs wouldn't have the same freedoms over there as they do over here. What the hell does that mean, those liberties should be taken away? That way the US would become like "over there" and the terrorists will have won.

As a major-league liberal, I'd like to say that us progressives majorly disagree with the Muslim extremists, although, I admit, a scant few of us do, but they're rare extremists, like the Republican extremists that belive that the global warming 55 million years ago was caused by dinosaur flatulence. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher voiced this opinion, and she is a conservative, but I'm not saying all conservatives think this. So why do progressives agree with radical Muslims? They mostly don't. The ones that do, like it because they're anti-Israel. Oh, and we don't bash the USA, we bash the right-wing, which, the 2006 polls indicate, is definitly NOT the political same as the USA.

You seem to be operating on the assumption that people who criticize the current gang of kleptocrats do so because they want Muslims to like them. If I may correct your impression, those who criticize the government do so because they think that the government is in error.
Many people think that the half-truths and outright lies that the government used to justify the invasion of Iraq are not exemplary behavior on the part of elected officials.
