I might have a live-out wire shorted - it connects to a light outside...
And I don't really know which portion of this wire needs to be replaced...

The best place to find an electrician is your local Yellow Pages. Look for an ad that says the electrician is licensed and works on small jobs. Look for one located close to you since travel time will usually be factored into your bill.

You also might want to ask the guys at your neighborhood hardware store. They usually know all of the local electricians and plumbers and can steer you to one that likes the small kind of jobs that you have. Stay away from the likes of Lowe's and Home Depot for these referrals since they usually don't know the locals nearly as well as the old time hardware stores.

Good luck with your electrical problem.

You might have better luck asking locals on Craigs List for the San Jose Area.

Whoever you get, ask for references, or check with the Better Business Bureau for any complaints.

Good luck.
