The other answers may be correct for total body hair, but I am going to assume that you are a guy that is losing the hair on his head and you want to know how many you have to replace? I had a thinning (?) spot on the crown and down the top and I had 1100 follicular replacements and it has been adequate, barely. Since I am over 6', most people can not see the top, but when I am sitting down, you can see the thin spot. I should do another thousand.
If my assumption is wrong, please note that there are hairs and hair follicles and some follicles have multiple hairs. So you can 10,000 hairs but only 3500 follicles.

Depends on two things:
1.) hair color. Blondes>Brunettes (black)>Brunettes (brown)> Redheads
2.) race. Caucasians>Blacks>Asians
If we're talking about head-hair, on average I'd say 107,000
