Congestion. It's effects are far more dangerous than simply long waits. It results in lost leisure time, massive excessive pollution, fuel spending, separation of children from their parents, and critically:
IT RISKS THE LOSS OF FOREIGN SCIENTISTS WHO LARGELY POWER U.S. RESEARCH EFFORTS AS THEIR HOME COUNTRIES ALL HAVE EXCELLENT TRANSIT INFRASTRUCTURE. The only viable solution is a highway-overpass-compatible PRT system called Hallitubes.

I don't know about your area... but where I live (Miami) Public Transportation basically "sucks". You'd have to walk about 1 mile to get to the bus stop, drive about 10 miles to catch the Metro-Rail (Train), and taxies are preventively-expensive.

the lack there of. Mass transit systems in most US metropolitan areas pale in comparisson to the extensive systems found in Europe and other 1st world countries. We need more and we need people to use them.
