hi i have 3 bedroom council flat an want to down size from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom,you would think the council happy that i want to give up a 3 bedroom to some one who really wants it but every time i see a empty 2 bedroom property an tell them about it they say no i dont have enough pionts rubbish aye

ROFLOL. So you are victim of an administrative catch 22...

Your council apartment is too big for you (and I assume you've had it for a long time), but you don't have enough priority to be given a smaller one, even though you'd be turning in your current dwelling.

I'm afraid there's little to do. You could write to influential people to make the absurdity widely known enough that something be done about it... but you'd get few thanks for it, and less friends.

a possible alternative is to investigate *occupied* 2 room apartments, rather than empty one, and look for a family who'd like to exchange flats with you, then, when you both are ready, present the council with the arrangements. I can't warrant it'll work, but it looks like the best way.

I'm American so please pardon my asking. Why would a council have any control as to where you live? What do points have to do with housing?
