I am in a debate with my significant other and he says that they are a light rock group, but I consider them to be NOT rock at all, but more soul/ and R & B. Can I get some help?

Times have changed sooo much and SO has music! I mean, like WHAT kind of music is cool and what isn't... and music that was consisderd like ROCK back in the 80s are on like KOST 103 and stations like that, lol... I would CLASSIFY Darryl Hall and Hohn Oats 'now'... in the 21st Century as Soft Rock... Or maybe 'Classic' Soft Rock, maybe?

80's soft rock. Rock changes over the times, and in the 80's, they were considered soft rock.

They are/were just the best group EVER!!!
love love love them.. but I'm afraid I would agree with your partner.
Pop rock.. at least at the time they were popular.. they were played on the top 40 stations.
