I think that it's fantastic that you're supportive of your gay brother enough to go with him to the bars.
As a woman in a gay bar you're in the position of being a straight man in a straight bar; you're competition (in their eyes).
Most of the gay bars where I am have a MILLION women there either because they're lesbians or because they just want to dance and drink without having to worry about freaky straight men hitting on them. I guess it's just a matter of which bar you go to hopefully??
Cheers,

Not all or even most gay men would respond that way to you, at least where I live where gay bars are open to everyone.
Sounds like you're bumping into a few drama queens at gay bars (big surprise). Just out-queen them by tossing it back in their face. Something like, "I'm his SISTER, ya intolerant prick. I thought the bigots had to stay outside" should probably do the trick.
On the other hand, if you are the only woman in an otherwise all-male gay bar, the reaction you're getting might be something you will just have to expect.

Well now, I don't know where you are, I assume the US. My experiences at home (Canada) tend to be the reverse. Most straights both Men and Women are quite welcome in most bars, but as with all things there are exceptions. If the bar caters to the fetish crowd, say leather or biker, there may be some friction because they may feel that must curb their behaviour so as to not offend you. Short of that though, I don't see why you wouldn't be welcomed in a regular gay bar. I mean really, isn't the whole point of equality, to all get along without attitude or judgement?

The first time I went to a gay bar, I guess I looked too femme. There were some lesbians staring daggers at me. The drag queens told me I looked fabulous (and I did).
Not sure why they were mad at me. Maybe they thought I was straight (I'm bi) or at least looked like I could go to any other bar with no problem.

Only some do I'm sure. I've taken straight friends -- mostly male, but sometimes female too -- with me to every gay event imaginable -- and I've never minded, nor have my friends. Don't worry too much about the ones who do.
Congratulations on supporting your brother, he is lucky to have you.
Peace,
Reyn

If I was you I'd tell the petty little queens where to go, and I am gay. I though the whole thing about gay bars is freedom and including people.

that's really sweet of you to accompany your brother. i guess it just bucks protocol at gay bars. i'm not a bar person so i don't really know the rules.. but i would assume that other gay men would shy away from your brother if they see him with a woman. obviously, they don't know you are his sister, but i guess it looks bad and can be deceiving. if your brother really wants to meet gay men, hsi best bet woudl be to attend the bar alone..

i might want to be very disenchanted, I advise.. reason in case you get me hyped on something and then tear it down.. only awful. Now, if I talked with reference to the action picture questioning he'd finally end up on my own or with a guy, and he ended up with a lady. it might want to maximum in all danger pass on my worst video clips record straight away. in the adventure that they stated in beforehand of time that it replaced into about a gay guy falling in love with a lady, i could not in any respect even imagine about watching it. i might want to easily tell human beings I hated it, no longer boycott it. inspite of if I do like signing petitions XD

You're going to the wrong bars. I often go out with my female friends and there are never any problems.

Tell them to go take a hike, they will think that your brother is taken and will do their best to take him from you. You get a good laugh and your brother gets a date.
