My girlfriend and I where in a car accident that was caused by her grabbing the wheel. I want to know if my insurance will go up? Will her insurance cover my car for her doing such a thing? She was sighted by police. She was charged for the accident but the police where not specific about what she would be charged with. I would like to know what kind of chargeds she could be facing.

Depends on your insurance company. Sometimes it's simply cheaper for them to pay the claim and just up your premiums than to investigate. They are not always your friend.

You have the police statement, so presumably she admitted doing it. During that brief time, she was the driver of the car legally, so her insurance should pay.

If the police cited her, the specifics are on the ticket and may be on there in code. Call your local police for help in deciphering it. They had to be specific even if the only thing circle was a code for "reckless driving" which sounds non-specific but really isn't.

If your insurance company takes the cheap route, you will have to request they review your claim. If there's still problems, there's probably someone called something like Insurance Commisioner in your state government. They can review it. I'd think the Commissioner would be the last resort for you.

I am shocked the police accepted this story, but, if you have it in writing she will have to contact her insurance company.

I would say she talked without having an attorney present. She could be charged with wreckless endangerment. Which is serious.
