a question about croft manor in tomb raider legend?

Whats up with the books in the "Hall of Knowledge" ? I keep pressing them but i dont know what they do... if theyre supposed to open that one bookcase next to the red book then i dont know why it hasnt opened yet... *clueless* haha

you have to hit them in order... blue, green, yellow and red
