Find out what kind of memory your computer takes by consulting the manual or searching the web for your model. Then go on the web or to a computer shop and buy that kind of memory and install it (it is fairly easy...even for a novice). Make sure you also note how big of sticks each slot can take...no point in buying a 1GB stick if the slots can only see 512MB.

Sounds like an old computer if its MBs, but in order to upgrade you'll need to know all about your RAM, download belarc advisior, www.belarcadvisior.com I belive it is.
After launching the program, it will open in Firefox ( or Internet Explorer ) and will show you everything about your computer, look for the RAM section and look for a PC number, like PC533, PC3200, PC100, after you find it, call around for a 256MB stick of what ever PC RAM you have.

You are going to have to buy something, either a video card or more RAM. You appear to have "shared" RAM, which means some device on your motherboard, usually a video card, is using some of the system RAM. So, you either buy more RAM and boost the available RAM onboard and leave the shared RAM in place or you buy a video card that has its own RAM.
