The Galveston storm was indeed one of our worst storms. But it is hard to actually select any one storm. For example the tornadoes of March 18 1925 in Mo., Ill., and Ind., the great “Tri-State Tornado outbreak”; with 689 dead; and over 2,000 injured. Property damage estimated at $16.5 million. This is often considered to be the "worst" tornado storm in our history. And then there was the terrible "Palm Sunday" tornado outbreak in Ohio in like 1975. Or what about Camille of 1969 or Katrina which of course has left an entire cities existence threatened. I believe it is hard to quantify this question with all the horrendous storms we have had over the past two hundred years in the US.
